We are pleased to offer events specifically for our 5th - 8th graders!
Camp is a wonderful place to learn about our catechism in an experiential way. Camp enriches the teaching of the Pastor and lay persons in the parish. This can be of even greater importance when the group experience in the parish is with a very small class.
We have scheduled four retreats around parts of the catechism. You may find one or all of the retreats helpful for the enrichment of your young people. We are also open to your ideas and the particular things you would like us to focus on during the retreat you participate in.
- The cost of each 5th - 8th grade overnight is $40 per person. The Pastor or a Lay person may come at no charge. Other adults are welcome to come with the youth in the parish.
♦ Feb 6-7, 2009: Experience the Creed
First of 4 events for our 5th - 8th grade overnights. We will use a block of time to experience each article of the creed.
♦ Mar 20-21, 2009: Experience the Sacraments
Second of 4 events for our 5th - 8th grade overnights. We will have a block of time to experience Baptism, The Lord's Supper and Confession.
♦ Oct 2-3, 2009: Experience the Commandments
Third of 4 events for our 5th - 8th grade overnights. We will look at the law as did Luther, what we are commanded not to do and what we are commanded to do. The law is a structure for our lives as Christians.
♦ Feb 5-6, 2010: Experience Prayer
Last of 4 events for our 5th - 8th grade overnights. Prayer shapes our relationship with God. There are many ways to pray and Jesus taught us about prayer with the Lord's Prayer.
Also remember - you can bring your whole Sunday School to camp this summer!
Several weeks will be programmed for all ages. Have the kids bring a friend!
