Matt Miller - Camp Director

Through life’s journey, it is amazing to see how God prepares us for what’s next. I grew up in Canfield, just outside of Youngstown.  I have always loved this area and enjoy so much of the rich heritage and relationships that feel so much like home.  My wife and I met working at a summer camp over 25 years ago and became friends while serving on staff together.  We have always dreamed of having camp be our life. I attended Taylor University/Indiana and graduated with a degree in Christian Education with a certificate in Youth Ministry (1999.)  I have had the great opportunity to have been in full-time ministry as well as work for 12 years in the trades.  My wife and I have three boys and have been married for 21 years.  Camp is home for us.

God has used both my ministry experience and work outside of full-time ministry to refine me and make me aware of my passions. I love the outdoors, but most of all, I love being a part of something God is moving in and through for His purpose.

Caleb disney- program Director

God’s faithfulness has been so clearly apparent in my life. I spent most of my childhood growing up in Shrewsbury, PA about an hour south of Lancaster. My life was changed as a camper at Black Rock Retreat, the love and guidance that my counselors showed me were incredibly influential in my decision to seek after God and his plan for my life. Since then, I have been looking to let God use me to impact the lives of campers in the same way God used my counselors to impact me. I have come to love all that camp ministry entails and the unique ability it has to produce vulnerability and growth in the lives of all who come.

God has blessed me with lots of opportunities to learn and grow in confidence and knowledge over my 4 years of camp ministry experience. I have a passion for teaching kids about God and his creation. It is a constant blessing to see God working in my and others’ lives through Camp Frederick

Summer Camp Counselor

A Contagious desire to serve Christ in intentional Christian communities is exactly what the young adults (age 18 and over) who serve as summer camp staff with Camp Frederick share each day with youth and adults. A summer at camp will impact your life and the lives of numerous campers in tremendous ways.

Camp Frederick offers a full array of resident summer camp opportunities as well as servant events. Camp Frederick is looking for Resident Camp Counselors with a willingness to teach and learn. As a camp counselor, your primary responsibility is to be with campers – working, studying, and recreating with them on a daily basis. You will also work with other staff members on planning and preparing Bible studies, devotions, worship, and daily activities. At times you may be assigned to a support staff role where you will not have campers; however, you will have various duties to help the general camp program. The summer commitment is for 10 weeks.

Many staff completing a summer at Camp Frederick say it was the best summer of their lives, and develop lifelong friends. The close family developed throughout the summer is a powerful experience for everyone. You have the opportunity to build vocational skills such as teaching, leadership, counseling, and Christian education. Many potential employers often consider experience as a camp counselor an asset to their organization. You will gain confidence in yourself and find gifts and talents you did not know you had. You will also have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people.

Not only will you receive a weekly salary, but your food and lodging are included as a benefit. The fast-paced environment makes the work exciting and keeps you physically, emotionally, and spiritually challenged. The benefits of working at Camp Frederick are extensive.
